One of my more recent soujourns was to Kovalam in Kerala, which boasted it’s beaches and great weather. The whole affair proved to be extremely relaxing and wholly enjoyable with the pool and beach proving to be regions of true solace for me. I stayed in a fairly new establishment in Kovalum called Niramaya which was an exceptionally cosy and hospitable hotel whilst having all the amenities one would expect at a well marketed and spoken about joint. The grand Padmanabswami temple, Chitra Art gallery and the royal museum were a few of the sites which I visited and which displayed the rich and vibrant culture of Kerala. And after all the aforementioned activities and lounging in the sand, gazing at the thick growth of palm trees and the receding waves, I realised why Kerala was called ‘God’s own country’.
